Phoenix Wellness Center is excited to begin offering a new approach to health and wellness. Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that focuses on training the brain to function more optimally. Through the use of EEG technology, we can provide our brain with real time feedback to help address a number of mental health concerns. Neurofeedback can be used as an alternative to medication for some mental health conditions or in conjunction with medication. Likewise, neurofeedback can be used concurrently or independently of traditional talk therapy. Because Phoenix Wellness Center offers comprehensive psychological treatment, clinical therapists, and neurofeedback practitioners will work together to provide the most optimal treatment outcomes.
Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback which provides real time feedback on brain functioning using an EEG. Based on the traditional concepts of classical conditioning, the brain can learn to function more optimally by responding to rewards through sound or audio, or even by playing games.
The first step to participating in neurofeedback at Phoenix Wellness Center involves an evaluation with our Clinical Director, Janel Randle MC, LPC. Janel will meet with you to discuss your individual concerns and provide information about neurofeedback to determine if this is a good first step for you. Janel will most likely ask you to participate in some clinical assessment tools to determine the best approach for you.
After this initial meeting, if neurofeedback seems like the best approach for you, Janel will recommend you participate in a QEEG. The QEEG will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and will provide a comprehensive picture of your brain and its current level of functioning. Our neurofeedback technician, Jessica Del Collo, will complete the QEEG with you in our office. The QEEG involves wearing a dry helmet with 19 electrodes in two phases, one with eyes open and one with eyes closed. The helmet is noninvasive, it reads your brain’s electrical signals but does not transmit anything to your brain.
After your QEEG you will set up a time, approximately 1 week later, to meet with Janel again to review the detailed results of your evaluation, discuss any questions that you may have and determine the best neurofeedback approach.
Following this meeting, you will begin brain training based on the approach that you and your treatment team develop. Brain training sessions are typically 30-45 minutes and are best done 2-3 times per week. Some presentations can be helped in as few as 20 sessions, whereas more complicated presentations can take more time. Your treatment team will provide regular ongoing assessment and evaluation to determine effectiveness and further recommendations.
Phoenix Wellness Center is committed to providing affordable services without sacrificing quality. Neurofeedback is an investment and should be seen that way. We try to break down our rates to make the process easily understandable and do offer some discounts for purchasing a package.
Each appointment with Janel Fairchild is $135/hour. These may be covered by your insurance.
Initial qEEG $350. Follow up qEEG’s are included as long as you are participating in ongoing care.
Brain training $75/session
Brain training packages can be purchased at $600/10 sessions.
Additional testing may be recommended and may have additional costs, these will be discussed with you in advance.
We may be able to bill your health insurance for your initial evaluation and follow up evaluations, however, insurance companies do not cover neurofeedback as a course of care.
Neurofeedback is not painful. The EEG process involves reading brain signals, but does not input anything into your brain. Phoenix Wellness Center uses dry EEG technology, which means we do not have to use any gel and you can go right back to work right after your training session.
Phoenix Wellness Center provides neurofeedback to children ages 5 and older, adolescents and adults.
